As hard as it is, time might be the only thing to really help you get through it. Unfortunately, most of us only learn from our own mistakes, and sometimes thats the one way out of a situation.
I think everyone else already said some really good things, so I don't really have anything I can add, but I agree that you havef to try not to be to rough on yourself. You can only do so much, and as long as you do that and be supportive, the rest is up to them.
In the meantime, you should do whatever you can to help take your mind off of things. I know what works for me, but we all have our own escapes.
At the very least... you should treat yourself to some Juicey Gels... food always helps at least a little...
