Most of my life, like a majority of women (and men) I have felt insecure.
From being overweight, to having skin conditions, there have been only a handful of times where I have felt comfortable in my own body. I would be at public events terrified someone would be judging me. To the clothes that I wore, to the makeup I really didnt want to put on (I kind of hate makeup), I was always putting myself in constant discomfort in hopes I would somehow feel comfortable.
But when I met my boyfriend (we've been together 6 years now) he taught me something that is now such an important part of my life. Something that sounds so simple, yet hard to comprehend:
"Nobody cares"
And it's true! I had nobody to impress. I had a boyfriend who thought I was beautiful without makeup, and a family who was too worried about their own misfortunes to criticize mine. People dont walk down the streets analyzing your pajamas or straightened hair, and if they do, fuck them.
People arent waiting in line at the grocery store thinking, "Jeez that girl didnt pencil in her eyebrows today what a piece of shit" No, thats silly. They are most likely thinking "I wish I could be like her, she seems so confident without makeup"
See how that works? And plus, If youre judging people like that you need to take a good hard look at yourself and figure out the actual important things in life to worry about. Trust me, theres plenty.
