Well, it's spring time finally. And there are effing ants overtaking my room! Soo annoying. My semester is officially over, and I got all A's and one B+. Yay me! Hmm what else? I'm reading a book by the Templeton prize winner, Michael Heller. He has some brilliant ideas, in particular one is that the limits about the rationality of humans and science differ. That...

Well, I just got a bunch of my art supplies in the mail today. I love getting parcels in the mail, it feels like christmas. I also got a few books in the mail as well. The feeling of getting new books in the mail reminds me of when I was a child and we used to order books through a catalogue at school. Each...

He's named after his father, who's named after his father. He's the third generation on Larry Lee's. I think it's awesome that they carried the name. You don't see that much anymore either.

I don't think the Amish set would work though. I don't know if they'd consider it sexy. Haha.

I always want to break cells. Some people are just far too annoying with them.

Well I'm happy it made your day! Your comment made mine. ^w^

Recently there has been a push by the scientistic ilk to attempt to give a description on behalf of the scientific community of what "the good life" amounts to. My problem with such movements is that it leaves open the possibility and possibly the necessity of eliminating a particular population (ie. the disabled community) from living a good life. Typically scientistic thinkers begin with the...

isn't that completely subjective?
existentialsex4:
Good question Aspen. I'm actually thinking about this question a lot, and am thinking of writing my honors thesis on the topic of the good life. Some would say that it is subjective. That is to say intuitively we can say things like "you can't tell me how to live my life, and I can't tell you how to live your life". On the other hand, we do seem to make some objective judgements about people living their lives. For example suppose I'm just the worst singer ever, yet I choose a lifepath of trying to become the next american idol and I go to auditions every year, even though I get horrifically denied all the time. Intuitively we say things like "these people are choosing the wrong life, they might have talents in other areas, but this lifepath is wrong for them". I haven't really made up my mind as to whether this is a subjective question or an objective one. But even if this question is a subjective one, the scientistic approach is the wrong one anyways. I'm trying to argue even if this question is an objective one, the scientistic approach is the wrong one. But I think if I do write my honors thesis on this topic, I'm probably going to have to address your question. So much thanks for the comment! smile

So I'm skipping Logic class today. I just have too many assignments lately, first I have a logic assignment due on friday, and second a metaphysics assignment due on thursday. Lately, I've also been intensely interested in disabled rights books, two on the top of my list include "No Pity" and "A New Disability History"(?) the former is writtened by a journalist and it's wonderfully...

GAH I can't get to sleep! I've been up all night and it's five in the morning. I also have class today, for five hours. And it's metaphysics, luckily we're talking about God. Even though a lot of philosophers don't really believe in God, it's just fascinating thinking about God, or who he might possibly be. Thinking about religion is the ultimate workout for your...

Religion. I love thinking about it, not discussing. Especially with ignorant fools. Which was every kid in my World Religions class. I imagine God and as a fluffy bunny with nunchucks. smile
