Friday, February 27 was quite a day. I still had the second half of the 2fer ticket I got at Disneyland on my birthday. And since I was going up to Anaheim that day to see my friends The Higher play at Chain Reaction, I figured I'd make a day out of it and visit Disney's California Adventure.

I got to the park at about 10:30am and hit some rides and stuff then decided to get some lunch. A rather routine task you'd think...But no, not this day. Who happened to be there at the same time?

Ryan Cabrera. It was pretty awesome

Early in the day it was pretty chill at the park. Short lines for pretty much everything. But then at about 1:30ish, everybody showed up all at once. I went on The Tower of Terror, then got right back in line to ride it again because the wait time was only 13 minutes, but I waited less than that. After the second ride, I went to go get back in line a third time in a row (the ride is amazing for those of you who haven't been on it) and the wait time was 45 minutes! The line was at least 3 or 4 times as long as the previous two times, and this all happened in the span of maybe 10-15 minutes. I guess I don't need to go into too great of detail about the rides I went on and all that, but I did discover the Toy Story Midway Mania ride..which is really great. You go through the ride and play 3-D arcade style games and try to get as high a score as you can. The first time I went on it, I got something like 83,000. Then the second time I got around 123,000 or something like that. Then the third time was 148,000. And the fourth time was 162,000. The fourth time I went on it I actually rode with the all time high score holder. He got 427,000 on the ride with me but his high score is 535,000. He told me he's been on that ride over 400 times.

Here are a couple pictures from California Adventure, I might add a few more when Myspace isn't under maintenance.

I stayed at the park until the closing time of 9pm. But before I left, I stopped at the candy store to get one of their amazing caramel apples. On my birthday, I got a Mickey themed apple, it was one of the greatest things I've ever eaten, so I wanted to get another one of those or the Minnie ones. When I got to the shop they had no Mickeys and 2 Minnie ones left, so I promptly jumped in line to purchase one of the remaining Minnies. One of them was purchased a rather quickly after I got in line, but the second remained, taunting me as I got closer. There were 2 people ahead of me in line, and after the first had already told the cast member what they wanted and didn't include a Minnie apple, I thought I was free and clear because I knew the woman in front of me wasn't ordering it. But then right before the first person was about to pay, he asked to switch his rice krispy treat for the last Minnie apple.....!!!! I was infuriated, I cursed him under my breath, and gave him the eye. I wouldn't have been so upset had he ordered it in the first place, but to switch at the last possible second, when I was seconds away from getting the apple I so desired... that was just despicable. I had to settle for a mere "celebration apple" which had the same lofty $8 price tag but not nearly as many bells and whistles. You see, the Mickey and Minnie apples were caramel apples dipped in milk chocolate, with marshmellows for ears, then the bottom half is dipped in white chocolate then rolled in red crystallized sugar and 2 yellow jellybeans placed for the buttons (or pink sugar and flattened marshmellows for polka-dots on Minnie, with a pink bow-tie on the stick, between the ears). The celebration apple was just a caramel apple dipped in milk chocolate and covered with Mickey shaped sprinkles...incredibly delicious, yes. But not nearly as magical.

Wow that was a lot about caramel apples...

Anyway back on track....So after that debacle, I eventually made my way to the car and headed over to Chain Reaction. I figured since The Higher were headlining and there were 4 or 5 bands ahead of them they would take the stage after 10. But when I got there at 9:40ish they were already in their second song. But oh well. They ripped their way through a great set, which included a song from their old album that I've never seen live before...and sadly probably won't see again. It was fun getting to hang out with the guys after the show, especially since I had only told Doug that I was coming, so the rest of the guys were surprised to see me there. Before they all headed off, we managed to round everyone up for a picture(which was harder than you'd think, it was kind of like trying to herd cattle, someone was always wandering off...but it was mainly Face).

That pretty much concluded my night. I was happy to learn that The Higher will possibly be touring with a band that I suggested they tour with a while back. So if it happens I told them I'm taking credit for it wink

Anyway, I guess I'll rate it 5 out of 5 stars. Even though it seems like I rate everything 5 out of 5, so the ratings are kind of pointless haha.

All the pix I had to use Photobucket for (since Myspace is currently not working) are all fucked up. I'll fix it later.
