Neverender. One simple word that means so much to me. November 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th were easily the best days of my life. Why? You may ask? Well...Misters Todd, Pennie, Sanchez, and Stever would be the reason for that. You see, they are in this little band called Coheed and Cambria, one of the greatest bands to ever grace the surface of our planet. They put on an event the likes of which has never been seen. This event was called Neverender. Four straight days of Coheed and Cambria, one album per night, which was originally to only take place in New York City and Los Angeles, but was later expanded to include Chicago and London. There was a very limited number of pre-sale VIP passes available, 10% of the total number of tickets for each city from what I've heard. The VIP passes literally sold out in less than 15 seconds....I was one of the lucky few that scored a Los Angeles VIP ticket package. What did this "VIP package" include? Well...

-A ticket to each of the 4 shows obviously
-Early admission to each show
-Entrance into a special acoustic set before the last show, which was later also included in regular 4-day passes
-VIP laminate
-Special Limited Edition poster
-Meet and Greet with the band, where the posters got signed.
also, the VIP passes were actually cheaper than the non-VIP 4-day passes from Ticketmaster. I paid $111 after fees for mine. On Ticketmaster I heard the packages were somewhere around $120-130.

There is also a concept behind all of Coheed and Cambria's albums. They all follow the story of The Amory Wars. The last album being the grand finale of the story, although their next album will be a prequel to their first release. So the idea behind Neverender was to tell the story of The Amory Wars saga, and to give thanks to the fans that have been supporting them for all these years.
So anyway, now the good stuff...

On Wednesday the 5th after finally making it to L.A., I waited inside the venue anxiously for the show to begin. I hadn't heard that there was going to be an opening band, but the stage was set up for one, so I was curious as to whom it could be. It turned out to be Chingalera, they were really great. The singer/guitarist is Coheed's former guitar tech. When they finished, we once again waited anxiously for Neverender to commence. These were possibly the best moments, for at that time the entire experience was still ahead of me. Then at about 8:30 pm......

and it had begun.
The band sounded better than I'd ever heard. The countless hours of practice had truly paid off. I was in awe of them from the first notes of Time Consumer to the last riffs of Neverender on the final night. I could sit here and type even more long and drawn out descriptions of each night, each song. And put video after video on here, but I won't. I made a total of 40 videos through all 4 days. They can all be found on Youtube and pictures can be found on Myspace. Each Night of Neverender was amazing, every single song was exceptional, even songs that aren't my favorite I found myself loving every note of. I could not have asked for a better overall experience. I hope that after the prequel album they will do another event like this, and possibly even use the name I suggested to Claudio, he said really liked it, and also even said he might end up using it.

I'm still trying to figure out how I used to live pre-Neverender. I think there was some music that I used to listen to before Coheed, but after almost a week straight of listening to them, I can't remember. I'm not even joking, I listened to them heavily in the days leading up to the shows, then on the drive up there and back, as well as the Coheed vids that were played on the screens before each show. My life consisted almost entirely of this band. I think it's safe to say that they are currently my absolute favorite band. It was such a thrill to be a small part of such an epic event, and I got to meet the guys a few more times. They pretty much know me by now haha. Anyway, I guess that's it for now. I may come back to this and add on to it, I may not. But I will leave you with one more thing.....

That pretty much sums it up.
troa:
I'm so jealous. I got my dragonfly brand, though.
