Anberlin was amazing...as expected...however not quite everything went as planned. I was happy to get lucky enough to be right in the front (behind the people on the barricade) for the first 2 bands, which was awesome. I got some great pictures of There For Tomorrow and Straylight Run. However directly to my left was a very..um...lets say affectionate...couple. But not just any annoyingly affectionate couple, the girl just so happened to be someone I used to like quite a bit and used to be friends with....So as you can imagine, hearing the sound of constant kissing was oh so pleasant.... -_- I was forced to whip out my iPod just so I could have something to block out the sounds...Although out of the corner of my eye I could still see them, so I kind of turned my back. The funny thing about that whole situation was that when I first got up there and noticed her I was going to say hi to her, but then as soon as they started making out...I was just hoping she either didn't notice me, or didn't care enough to say anything to me. But anyway...when Scary Kids Scaring Kids started....the assholes came out of their caves and began to unnecessarily push me...Now, I HAAATE being pushed at shows. I tried to deal with it for about half a song, and just push backwards and try to create some breathing room but they just kept at it. So I turned around and screamed at them "STOP FUCKING PUSHING ME!" and just then one of these lowly faggots (who apparently doesn't understand some part of Stop, Fucking, or Pushing Me) pushed me on purpose, so I grabbed his head and pushed him backwards. Security didn't like that too much, and the guard grabbed the front of my shirt and said something that I didn't hear. I merely responded with "I told them to stop pushing me and they didn't". Then he let go of me, but when I looked down like 3 people had snuck behind me while I was T.C.B. So that pissed me off to the point where I didn't even want to deal with that shit anymore, so I stormed out of the stage room, got some water, then went outside for some fresh air. I missed nearly all of SKSK's set, even though I am a fan of their stuff. I just didn't really care at that point. So I chilled outside in the empty smokers' lounge area, and also back in the lobby for a while. Every so often peaking in on SKSK.

Once they were done I went back into the stage room and found the exact right spot to enjoy one of my favorite bands, Anberlin. I found said spot...slightly to the left of center, directly under the air conditioning biggrin At one point during the set, one of the security guards stood next to me and remarked "Man, this is the spot right here."
As far as Anberlin's set goes, what can I say? They were awesome, as always. It was a little disappointing that as far as I could tell, didn't play even one song off of their first album Blueprints For the Black Market. Other than that, it was one hell of a set list, encompassing nearly all of my favorites from their 3 most recent albums. Stephen was somewhat sick, so his voice gave out on him a few times here and there, but he still sounded incredible....boy can SANG!

So then after the show, I went around back with my friends James and Ilya (who had sidled up to me in true Batman style during Anberlin's set) to meet the band, as usual. After a few minutes of waiting, Stephen came driving out in a car, luckily he stopped to chat with someone, or else I wouldn't have noticed it was him driving. He kindly signed the poster that came with my copy of New Surrender, and I had a brief conversation with him. He told me he wasn't feeling so great, that's why he was ducking out early, and without the rest of the band. Post-Stephen, I was able to wrangle Christian (guitarist) over to sign his picture on the poster, then later on I got Joey (other guitarist). Nate (drummer) was over by me for a minute earlier on, but I failed to recognize who he was, even though I knew he was someone I should know (He had a hood on and his head down looking at his phone, so he didn't look the same as when I had seen him previously). I never even saw Deon (bass), so I only managed to get 3/5 of the band to sign my poster. But I did have some good conversations with Christian and Maika from There For Tomorrow and Will from Straylight Run. All of my awesome videos are on Youtube and photos on Myspace.

Overall I'll give the night 4.5 out of 5 stars. Minus .5 just because of the inconsiderate assholes. I can't wait to see any of those bands again.

pushing is not nice.
