I was taking a way through the woods the other day. I brought my camera a long just because you never know what you might see. I got lot of nature shots that day, but this is the one that I thought was the neatest. I was walking a long a trail, and in the corner of my eye I seen a small movement towards the ground. When I stooped to have a look I couldn't see anything, so I just thought it was a dry leaf disturbed by the breeze. I took a few more steps, and seen movement again. This time there was more that one thing that I thought had moved. So I stood very still a few seconds and watched the ground. After a little while I see it. And then I seen it's brothers, and sisters. The ground was full of these tiny little toads. They were very small, and everyone was different colored. They were perfectly matched to there environment. It was really quit neat to see. If one toad was lighter in color it would stay primarily in the sandy ground of in the dry leaves. If it was greenish brown it would stay primarily around the mossy areas near fallen trees. If it was black it would stay in the darker areas. I don't know if toads can see in color, and I drought that they now what they look like, but somehow each one knew where to jump to utilize there own color skim for the best camouflage effect. I tried to get as many pictures as I could, but I just don't have the right lens for extreme close ups. Most of the pictures didn't turn out very well. Every time I would get close enough to get a picture the subject kept hopping away. I did get some neat ones, but I wish I had the right equipment for the task. Can you see the little toad in the picture? Trust me. He's there. skull
