Alrighty then!
My day did not suck as much as anticipated!
Here's the brief break down.
I work for one of those huge managed service companies. I specifically work at a university running the only full service, fine dinning restaurant.
Back in the day, it was the faculty club. A very swanky, exclusive place.
I discovered, about a 10 days ago, by accident, while cruising the campus website that a faculty club event was scheduled to happen this past Thursday at my place. That is to say that every mover and shaker weve got, (and weve got plenty!) would be descending on me with expectations of fine wine and black tie service.
It was the first Id heard of it.
So I started making phone calls.
Every contact name listed, plus anyone I knew personally who might have any involvement was consistently unavailable. I sent email after email to everyone I could think of asking for information.
Monday of this week I received the following information.
There will be as many as 200 people.
We want hors doeuvres, carried by servers for the guests.
Thats it!
No Menu. No budget. No floor plan. NO FRICKEN IMPUT!
So I do the only thing I can do. I design a menu, plan a floor plan and crank up the price.
My worst fears went unrealized because the organizers and their guest were actually happy with all we provided. For any of you who went to college or university, you know how crazy some these profs and deans and VPs and executives can be.
Put them all in one room and pour on the booze and theyre suddenly docile and grateful!
Who knew?
Im told theyll be back and may make this a regular gig.
Only if they tell me theyre coming first!
It was a better day!
