I just bought Rollins Band cd -- life time.
Henry fucking rules!

I'm also game for cheap thrills, so I went to a place today that does electro-muscle stimulation. They put pads all over your body and little electric shocks stimulate your muscles. The shocks make your muscles contract and release. It's really a hoot. I guess it's like passive exercise, you can just lie there while your body does a huge workout. My main thought was that it was a blast. It felt really weird and cool.

--- edited to add---

okay -- I have to see this Bruce Lee biopic. two people have mentioned it too me. the electro muscle gizmo is the same thing that doctors use to help rehab muscles. it had like a dozen or so little paddles about the size of the palm of your hand. they put a wet sponge over each paddle and then put them on your body, holding them in place with velcro straps. okay, yeah, i was totally into having the female hottie tie things too me with black straps! she tied them all over my upper body. when she was done i had to lay down on a cot with all kinds of pillows designed to completely support your body. at first the you feel like weird pulsing tingly sensations. as she cranked it up they felt more intense. I learned right away what muscles i don't use. my arms could handle a much higher setting than my stomach.

as i recall, one of the guys in Jackass put one of these paddles on that sensitive patch of skin between his balls and the crack of his ass. bad idea!

cheap thrills .. try this one :

Tie both ends of a string to a metal coat hanger. Put the string over your head and over your ears, but allow the hanger to hang from your head. Put your index fingers in your ears ... pushing in the string when you do. Have someone play the hanger like a triangle, or just tap it into things. it sounds really weird and no one can hear it but you.

what else?

Sensory deprivation flotation tank -- done it. it was kind of boring, but also kind of weird. That was back when I had super long hair. At one point my body started to float into the top wall and my head hit the wall. My hair acted like this bizarre slow motion spring. it absorbed the slow impact into the wall and then recoiled me out. A very weird feeling.

The "mind salon" -- done it. Remember the episode of the Simpsons with Danny DeVito where Homer sits in the orgasmic relaxation/massage chair? You sit in one of those chairs, wear headphones and sunglasses. The sunglasses are opaque and have a blinking red light aimed at your retina. You leave your eyes closed, and the red light is supposed to put you into a hypnotic beta state. It's supposed to put you into the same mental state as the moment of falling asleep just before you lose consciousness and start dreaming. The headphones have some kind of subconscious mind altering message. I did the one on anger management. This doesn't do the silly new age music, ocean waves, and subliminal messages. a story teller tells you two stories at the same time. You hear a different story in each ear, but the characters have the same names. At first you can keep them separate and follow them both. Then the stories start to flip flop ears. It becomes impossible to follow either of them. You start focusing on the blinking lights and suddenly you're in never, never land. Its a real hoot.

I did a pseudo bungee jump thing using a parachute harness where they hoisted my buddy and I about 400 feet in the air. I pulled a parachute rip cord. We dropped like rocks and were caught by a wire. Ive this at a lot of fairs, there was even and accident with this thing at the Orange County Fair the line had too much slack and the woman hit the pavement. Ouch. I did it at Cedar Pointe in Ohio. Yeah, I love roller coasters. Ive never seen anyplace that cranks people as high in the air, but the Ripcord is a permanent part of the park owned by Cedar Pointe, not some fly by night traveling show. Watching our shadows getting small and smaller was a total trip.

I want to do an actual bungee jump, but I want to do it over water -- like the way they do in Australia off a bridge. Based on the accident at the OC fair, Id want it to be a company who specializes in just that location and has been there for a long time.

Whitewater rafting -- done it and love it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Last years big adventure was a 50 mile bike ride in Mexico. 50 miles is a long time on a bike seat. Culturally you experience the real Mexico as you ride through small towns where people are lined up at the side of the road to cheer. Little kids want you to high five them. Everyone wants you to throw candies. Everyone is dirt poor, but also seem very happy.

This year a friend of mine and i are talking about doing a multiple event adventure race in the fall. It has biking and rafting, and hiking (i think). This is sort of one day version of eco challenge. It will be cool.

Have I mentioned that dropping acid and going to see The Exorcist was a rite of passage for my generation? I love that movie!

thanks evil. you always know the right thing to say to me. that's what i thought too, but the fact that he didn't even think long enough before he just blurted that out to even consider what he was saying, much less the whole thing you wrote about....... well, either that means that he meant it and is an asshole, or he didn't really mean it that way and he just doesn't think enough of me or my feelings to stop and think about what he's gonna say to me before he says it.
either way, he's seriously in the dog house with me. and i don't know how he can make it better.
much love to ya. kiss

I wish people didn't think he was the Machiavelli of our day and age... His music is good, my fav rollins band album, (I guess the only one I accutally own, on cassette no less!!!) is Do It their first effort. I guess "Next Time" really speaks to me, as a lowdown bum.

As far as Black Flag goes, again, I'm gonna have to cite the first album, Dammage, though NOT written by Rollins, he gave it a fierce impact that has made it a classic to this day. "Depression" being one of my favourite, juvenile pleasurers, my finger in the air, to life.

His poetry is...... well.... shouldn't have been published. But when you own the printing press, it's your ball.

All and all I like Rollins a lot, but he isn't my Messiah, they way he is for some, he's not the voice of my generation.

Who is? Maybe Jerry Stahl. Maybe Kate Northrop.

certainly of any decade, Louise Bogan, John Giorno, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Anne Sexton, Vachel Lindsay, Edward Thomas, Marina Tsetvataeva, Paul Celan, Octavio Paz, Pablo Neruda, Sylvia Plath, and the list goes on....

Love ya 'doc, you're one of the best things about this place.
