Rainier, unfortunately, didn't happen completely... I ran into some heart issues when I went up to and spent the night at Camp Muir... and, thanks to the wonders of modern science, my doctor has no idea what's going on, but doesn't want me to go up there again without a good battery of tests and such.

There's no question that we made the right decision... Tragically, two climbers lost their lives on the Muir snowfield that weekend due to exposure... one of them had been on the Mountain many, many times and was apparently an experienced climber.

Speaking of tourism... I'm contemplating an adventure up to your neck of the woods and/or Vancouver. Email me through my contact tab if you have any suggestions. But only if/when you're on the job and getting paid to serve tourists...

I am eating birthday cake for breakfast. It is no ordinary birthday cake. Sweet sweet boy went home early and spent the afternoon baking a cake for me. I don't know that he ever has before. It is gorgeous (like him) and delicious. Especially for hungover breakfast. Muffin, you are great. GREAT!!
