I'm sick and tired of being held up at gun point. Am I that intimidating?! I need to start finding reasons to believe that people are inharently good.

Its funny that you mention it being hard to leave. I am experiencing that right now. I love it here, almost too much! Every time I set a date to leave, it gets pushed back because of some awesome thing that is happening. (Like a cupcake alleycat!!)
