So. This morning on the way to work I decided to mark the occasion of our 16th anniversary this Friday with a list of things I miss about being 17. In all fairness, this should be followed by a list of things I think are better about 33, but, you know, I may be too lazy to write one.
1. Glorious tumult.
2. Boys who adore but only dimly understand one.
3. Drinks, sex, drinks, nervous breakdown, sex, sex, mattress falls on the floor, sex, sleep, drinks, hi, mom!
4. Poetry.
5. Seriously thinking that tomorrow I might write some.
6. Sex at 4 AM, 11 AM, and 3 PM, with class and naps in between. Who needs to eat?
7. Really groovy clothes with no one to spit up on them.
8. Not knowing.
9. Naps.
10. Knowing for sure.
11. The Slough of Despond
12. Discovering orgasms.
13. Discovering multiple orgasms.
14. Endless vistas of chemical impairment, if I so chose.
15. Fucking other boys to keep the one I wanted to fuck in line.
16. Being proposed to by my husband (the first time).
17. Books 24/7.
