Really not that much to report. publicAnenome got a new computer that picks up a whole bunch of networks, so my internet crisis has abated. We're staying with his dad's cousin, who's actually about pA's age, in their (finished) basement. We get to stay here (free!) until September 24th (they normally house international students, but they had a very serendipitous gap). After than, if we want we can go stay in a shack (yes shack) in the backyard of this cousin's sister. Certainly a less ideal situation-it's actually a very nice shack, with electricity and a skylight and even a little closet--but it's 5 by 13, which is, um, small. It would basically just be a sleeping room; we'd be able to hang out in the house and use the kitchen and the bathroom and stuff...it's this funny little boho family unit--mom is a house painter (and closet performance artist), her daughter is this extremely mature and self-aware 15-year-old, and then there's this other cousin living there, not related to pA (I think there's a lot of stepping going on in this family), about 20, who I think they sort of took in because she couldn't deal with her own family. This would cost us $200 a month. Which is pretty fucking cheap in this city, even for a shack. We could stay for
"a few months"; I think the deadline is mostly for out own good. Oh, did I mention it's about three blocks from the projects? Yeah, that's sort of an issue.
Or we could try to find our own place by the 24th. Which would cost a lot more than $200. But it would mean we could get our shit out of storage and, like, chill. I definately want to find a place by the beginning of November because LadyKills is coming to visit (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and as much as I'm sure we would like to have her sleep in our bed, it would be nice to be able to offer2eQittle something more. And something not in the ghetto. Doncha know.
