Well, I just returned home. On Saturday, Pezmaster and went to a couple friends house and celebrated two of their birthdays. One of them is turning 21 and the other 27 or 28. I am really bad at keeping track of the ages of people. I am good enough to keep track of my own. I am definite about the 21 year old because that is monumental and who could forget that birthday!
I think too my memory would be a little bit better if I knew these individuals a little better. Pezmaster has known many of them since college and I have only been a part of the group since we starting dating last summer. Which reminds me, Tuesday, Pezmaster and I will have been together 10 months. That is my second longest relationship so that is pretty monumental to me. I dated my ex, who I was also engaged to for almost 19 years, and then there a short time in which we weren't together that I went out with another guy for about 3 months. So it is safe to say that I am not real experienced in the dating department. So far, I must say I so happy and in love with Pezmaster
. These past 10 months have been the best of my life and everything is far from perfect, but I wouldn't trade him or this time for anything in the world.
Ok, as usual I got off topic, so I will try to get back to the original point of this blog. The birthday celebration on Saturday was supposed to be a cookout, but due to nasty storms we had to move everything inside. We still grilled, but just generically. Basically, we pulled out the old standby in such situations: "THE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL." So they food was still good and a lot more healthier. Plus of course, we had cake. Actually, there was two cakes and to my knowledge as of this morning there is nothing left of either of them. One of the cakes was a bakery cake with a cell phone on it, since the birthday girl is obsessed with her cell phone. It was totally cute!
The other cake was an ice cream cake and very absolutely delicious. I think I ate my weight of that one. The ice cream cake was chosen because that friend does not care for sweets on a regular basis, but is a big fan of ice cream. So, he got the best of both worlds. I mean come on, you can not have a birthday without some kind of cake, right?
Pezmaster and I intended on driving home that night since we left his son with his parents. However, due to a little too much alcohol consumption and the bad weather, we ultimately decided it was safer to stay where we were for the night! So we acting like we were camping out. We used an air mattress and slept in the living room though, instead of outside. Our friends have a very large house and three of them live their together and share the expenses. They were nice enough to offer us the upstairs bedroom, but I have some difficulty climbing lots of stairs due to my disability so we politely declined. Basically, I am very independent and the truth was, I did not want to rely on everyone to help me up and down the stairs. The bathroom and kitchen were downstairs so it made just more sense to stay down there.
We ended up staying up very late (actually 4am for me and another friend), but this is typical for Pezmaster and I. Going to bed early for us is like 1 am. So this was no change to our routine. For entertainment, we played the Wii. One of our friends had just bought a new game called, "Smarty Pants," in which no of us had heard of. It was basically a quiz/trivia type game. Let me tell you, that game made many of us feel very stupid. Some of the question I do not know who or why they would know the answer as common knowledge like the game was portraying it to be. This was quite a shock to many of us because one of friends is like a walking encyclopedia and can spout off random facts about everything imaginable. Even he was missing so of the questions. It just makes me wonder how they decided what questions to include in those type of games.
After we all got done being made feel like we were idiots, some of our friends turned in for the night. Two of them had to be at work at 7am the next morning and another was going on a road trip the next day to see a band at a club a few hours away. Pezmaster, myself, and another friend decided to finish the night watching some anime. I am new to the whole anime scene, but I am starting to enjoy it more and more. We talked about some older ones that they thought I may enjoy, such as Vampire Hunter D, and then discussed in more detail the one that was on the television. Both Pezmaster and his friend were convinced I would enjoy it, but told me not to try to make sense of it right then because the episode that was playing was midway through the series. Currently, I am watching two anime series that I want to finish first before I even attempt to take on more. However, if there are any anime fans out there, then feel free to recommend some good ones to me.
Ultimately, we all fell asleep talking and dreading waking up as early as we did. Pezmaster and I had to drive an hour to get home still and were not quite ready to return home to his four year old son. So we decided to stop at one of the local malls. This excited me because the mall had a Chick-Fil-A inside it. However, my craving for their delicious chicken nuggets was ruined when Pezmaster informed me that most of these restaurants are not opened on Sundays. I was like, "Why the hell not?" He amusingly informed me that they were a Christian based franchise and most of the refused to operated on the supposed day of the Christian Sabbath. He even went into even more detail to inform me that most of the restaurants require their employees to say, "God Bless You!," after someone gives an order and says their thank you's. Now do not get me wrong, I was raised a Baptist my entire life. I spent almost every Sunday in church as a child and a majority of my adulthood. I believe in some higher power, but now that I am able to form my own opinion on the matter, I am not sure what that higher power may be. I do not attend church on a regular basis, but in the same sense I respect anyone who is completely devoted. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. The only thing that disturbs me is that I was unaware that it was unholy to eat at a restaurant on a Sunday. This concept just seems ridiculous to me. I mean come on, does Jesus have something against chicken nuggets on Sunday?
I will forever be disturbed by this revelation....*giggles*
Much Love,
Jen
