GG Allin stands naked, facing a crowd of twitchy, New York University twentysomethings who wait nervously with bated breath for what the Murder Junkies frontman will do next. Its 1993 and Allin is about to begin his now-infamous spoken word performance that had him banned from stepping foot on campus grounds ever again. Writer and director Todd Phillips, then a junior in NYUs documentary program,...

Brian Molko, the always-engaging frontman of Placebo, has been around the world twice since SuicideGirls last checked in with him. Although Placebo has had a successful decade-long career in the UK and Europe, they've never managed a full-on conquest of America. This summer's Projekt Revolution tour, headlined by Linkin Park, might be the Trojan Horse that finally gets them through the gate. Did Placebo take...

Great interview, I got to see Placebo at Projekt Revolution this year- they were one of the reasons my boyfriend and I were willing to fork over the cash for PR. I found though that Toronto had a pretty strong fan base for them because they don't get up this way much
Very cool interview, Brian's such an interesting guy.
Robert Pollard is best known as the songwriter and frontman of Guided By Voices. Though he didnt release an album until the age of 36, today Pollard is about to turn 50, and over 2,000 of his songs have been released on records. His next two albums are twins called Coast to Coast Carpet of Love and Standard Gargoyle Decisions. They represent the two halves...

For over five years AFI fans have gathered outside of venues and corralled on message boards and in chat rooms, whispering about whether or not Blaqk Audio, the long rumored side project courtesy of Davey Havok and Jade Puget, would ever come to fruition. Well, it has. And with the recent release of the bands debut CexCells, out August 14th on Interscope Records, fans can...

To appreciate this music, you have to have a streak of wildness, a fierce independence of spirit, and an absolute belief in the unusual, the strange, the unpredictable, the offbeat, and even the generally unacceptable. -- Herschell Gordon Lewis

I believe some musical styles and attitudes can only come out of Detroit because of the climate in this city. Gore Gore Girls are obviously one of them. I saw them play in Ann Arbor and between the blasting music and feminine power that was being emitted my jaw dropped and stayed on the floor for the entire set.
The Vacancies are a punk rock maelstrom. Singing about fear, pain and survival, their sound is a mix of Hot Water Music and the Dead Kennedys. The band -- Billy Crooked (vocals), Michael James (guitar), Bo (bass), Dave Long (guitar), Kevin Hopkins (drums) -- formed in 1999 and is made up of five guys between 21 and 34-years-old who grew up listening to the Clash....

Screenwriter John August made his bones penning what we'll call surrealist fantasy films -- "Charlie's Angels" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," and embarked on a working relationship with Tim Burton that produced "Big Fish," "Corpse Bride" and 2005's box-office smash "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Since then, his career has turned a corner towards big-budget superhero epics -- he's currently working on bringing DC Comics'...

Sounds like an interesting flick.
I like that comic books are our new mythology line.
I like that comic books are our new mythology line.
The Western mythos runs deep in James Mangold's work, going all the way back to Copland, his gritty urban drama from 1997 about a gang of outlaws who live out on a lawless patch of land called North Jersey, well out of the reach of the civilizing influence of Manhattan. By the third act of that film, what began as a police procedural has evolved...

great interview, ryan -- welcome aboard
If the Killers met Hot Hot Heat in some swanky NYC hotel bar, had a night that involved lots of vodka-soaked linens and a hefty dry cleaning bill, and then never called each other again, nine months later one of them would give birth to Lola Ray.
At one point the guys in Lola Ray were signed to Good Charlottes Sony imprint and enjoyed playing...

God I love this band so much, and
kinda know Amadeo just from seeing them so many times.
He's a real nice guy.
But gosh, I just find the new album rather mediocre.
I think it's their worst one.
Live it was a little better, but was the worst I've
ever seen them live probably. And they
didn't do any old songs at all which was disappointing.
But I haven't listened to 23 enough.
I want to give it more chances.
I'm gonna listen to it right now.

Billy Morrison has always wanted to be part of a rock and roll circus. He may have forgone the greasy handlebar moustache, top hat and striped pantaloons, but with his new band Circus Diablo -- quite literally "the devil's circus" -- Morrison seems to have found himself a group of misfit musicians that share his taste for all things sweaty, dirty and flashy...or in other...

Given his onstage predilections, no article about GG Allin is complete without the colon.
