I'm insane. Certifiably. Lock me up.
I just got back from CES and watching some of the best gamers in the world put on a show. It's rekindled the PC spirit that's lain dormant since I move to console more than 2 years ago. I'm currently considering whether to commit to training professionally on Quake 4.
I will never win. It's too far into the game's lifespan to overtake the likes of Toxic, Stermy, and Fatal1ty. Even so I would have to commit 5 hours every day to practice... on top of my day job. That would leave me... exactly 3 hours per day to do anything, including hygiene and commuting.
I might do it anyway. People play WOW that much and still somehow survive, right? This couldn't be worse...
This bears further consideration. I'd hate to commit 1600 hours of the next year to training if I'm not willing to really do it completely. On the plus side, it could take me traveling over the entire world with the potential to make some extra money.
Why isn't this done more often? There must be a reason. Of course, I've never been one to listen to reason. Reason is no fun.

having said all that, there are some amazing PC games out there. (Yes, crack is bad, but here, try some!)
