I played GRAW tonight with a bunch of friends. I did it from work so I was able to host a full 16-player server, which is ridiculously rare. Big servers take a lot of bandwidth that I just don't have at home. I thought I was worse than I am. I'm not on my team's competition squad because I work too much and practice too little. I was pleased to be in the top half every round tonight, and leading on more than a few. It's nice to think you're trash at something and then find out you're not so bad. Definitely better than the other way around.
I also played Splinter Cell Double Agent multiplayer for about 3 hours today. I've been prepared to dislike it because it's so different from Chaos Theory. I fucking loved SCCT and couldn't figure out what possessed the developers to change a good thing. After a few rounds of being petulant and aggrospy (my friends used to call that style of play sprinter cell) I got the hang of the new setup and soon began wiping the floor with the developers. That's a good feeling. I may even partner up with my ex-teammate and SCCT partner, the lovely Theresa. Just because she's not on my gaming team anymore doesn't mean we're not still a Splinter Cell team.
It's not quite Splinter Cell as fans will remember it. The multiplayer, anyway. Spies no longer have a multi-gadget loadout and don't get to pop mercenaries in the face. In exchange, they can now hack from a distance and permanently disable lights in the level. Additionally, you can hack any terminal. If a mercenary comes and you have to flee, you can pick up at the same spot at another terminal. You only lose your progress if you die.
I played mostly spy so I can't be sure what mercenaries get... They might have just been hosed in general. No more proximity mines or poison mines or spy traps. Instead they can now detect spies are in the vicinity (the controller vibrates more the closer the spy is) and have a drone that can hover and go where mercenaries can't for a short distance and time. That means spies aren't safe just ducking into a duct. When those drones explode near you, you're a goner.
And there are now mercenary bots for multiplayer (!!!)

^ me when my hair was light, with my SCCT partner, demonstrating our love for MGS^
I'm going to see Little Miss Sunshine tonight. Tomorrow or Sunday I want to go see Snakes on a Plane though. I have to balance out my quality movies with my campy ones.
Did the gym thing again last night.
20 minutes running + 3 walking. 5.4mph. i think my goal is about 6ish
4 or 5 minutes rowing
50 crunches on each side
100 normal crunches
30 body/side lift things (i wish i knew what they were really called)
30 back lifts with a 5lb weight
on break until Sunday!
