I've started working out again. One of the nice things about sites like this and seeing beautiful naked people is that it reminds me how much I liked flaunting it when I was in wicked shape, and it reminds me I'm not in peak condition anymore. I'm not overweight, by any means. I'm just a little... squishy. I miss looking cut. I miss being tan too, but not enough to do anything about that. I'm not about to pay $60 or $70 a month for the privilege of prematurely baking my skin. When I lived in Utah it was $30 and about a 2 minute walk from my loft. That's a lot easier to justify in my head. Being a lazy bitch? Not so easy to justify (unless I have an impending gym appointment... then thing always "magically" pop up).
I've just come off my second workout. I started Sunday, and I'm going to do my best to maintain a Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday routine. I thought about Monday/Wednesday/Friday but.. I don't really want to commit myself to working out every Friday night. Call me lazy. I am.
My body exhibits my mother's tendencies... shit I need to watch out for when my metabolism decides it's finished working and wants to drop dead. I have to exercise and tone my leg muscles. I can't build them because they naturally try to be bigger. My top half is scrawny in comparison and needs all the help it can get. It could be worse. When I shake my fist at the sky for giving me mismatched parts, I have to remember that. I'm pretty blessed.
But being lucky is no excuse for going to squishiness when I'd rather be in great shape, so it's time to instill some discipline here. And that's what blogs are for. Record keeping and all that, right?
Sunday:
* Ran/walked 25 minutes - 2 miles. I was going to stop at 15, but since I had to stop and walk every few minutes I couldn't allow that.
* 200 crunches or so. I'm convinced I'm not doing them right. They don't hurt enough.
* 25 side lift things on each side to tone my sides (muffin tops be gone!)
* 30 lifts on my lower back
I was going to steam, because the gym near my work doesn't have a steam room and the one near my house *does* but when I hopped in my swimsuit and made a beeline for it I discovered it was not only steamless, but under construction. It was nothing but an empty husk covered in drywall. Godspeed, steam room, and return to me with all due haste.
Tuesday:
* Ran 20 minutes, walked about 2. I was impressed that I ran it all without having to take a walking break.
* 150 crunches, I think. I can't really remember. It hurt, anyway.
* 5 minutes on the rowing machine. At an average of 25spm about... 125 strokes? The machine said 50 calories. Those little numbers are fucking stubborn.
* 25 body lifts on each side
* 25 body lifts for my lower back with a 5 lb weight.
Next stop! Thursday. Let's see if I can do 3 sessions in a row without finding some excuse to start skippng already. I set up a recurring meeting with "the gym" in my work calendar. maybe it will help.

I try to work out when I can, 2-3 times per week. My gym is quite strange, most people are either extreme bodybuilders or obese mofos trying to ward off that 4th heart attack. Not many people in the middle of the spectrum, like me.
