Personal observation of the day: I either have a strong person inside, carefully hidden by a weak exterior, or I have a crazy person inside, carefully hidden by a polite exterior. Who will win? Who do I want to win? Flip a coin?
stumm:
Now, these things don't necessarily cancel each other out, do they?
redheadedleague:
Have them call a truce and start negotiations. You need both. I say this having some experience with strong crazy people who had no weak polite ones covering for them. It's unpleasant.

Do you ever enjoy a game, until one particular section is so ridiculous it puts you off forever? I believe I've just encountered one of these dealbreakers with Zelda: Twilight Princess. I loathe escort quests as a whole, but being chased by boar riders trying to set fire to the wagon I'm escorting, while birds drop bombs from the sky to keep my wagon from...

gibbergeist:
Escort quests can be pretty frustrating, but I don't think I minded that one so much. I did take awhile to get used to using the boomerang to keep the wagon from burning while still worrying about all the crap around you.

That said, there is an optional quest you can do later in the game- you have to run a barrel of water from the Death Mountain area to Castle Town....you can't fight the enemies, and the barrel will break if your hit. And if you don't get there fast enough the water goes cold and you have to do it again.

I was very thankful for the wrist strap after doing that one over and over.

You haven't even scratched the surface as far as all the cool stuff coming up in that game though- try not to let the wagon part ruin it for you.

(love the new profile pic by the way)
tarqu1n:
Hey! Don't give up yet! I found the escort really tough as well, but the secret to getting through is to:

1.use the boomerang to put out the flames on the cart every now and then

2. You have to kill the bird when you are just about there, otherwise it keeps turning you around a bit.

Good luck! The rest is definitely worth playing!

I passed Quinne walking on the street this evening. In a city populated by millions of people, it's surreal to walk by someone you've seen naked, and never spoken to.

I also had a facial to prepare for the DICE awards. I'd hate to have a zit on the red carpet. Extractions + glycolic peel + green tea mask = one happy girl.

I ran into my older brother's friend's ex-wife yesterday. She used to work at a bar in Arcata where she served me many a drink. And I remembered. SF is nice in how contained it is.

I had a dream two nights ago that I would have liked to write down sooner, but I haven't. I want to write the pieces down because some of them are already getting blurry at the edges.

I was 21 and in a school of some sort. It struck me as a high school, but it wasn't unusual for me to be there at my...

luckily it's robot month.

Those damn robots, nothing but trouble.

Although if the dream had continued, I bet one of you rwould have been revealed as one of them (come on, you have to get some BSG influence in your subsconscious, right?)

Have fun. and that is why Superbowl Sunday is good even for those of us who couldn't care less about football.

I started playing Quake 4... I'm not 100% committed yet, but I've given myself a test run the last few days and I'm reasonably optimistic. I've put in... maybe 13 hours over the last 3 days. I'm playing one one map and one map only right now. I think I will practice maps until I know them so well I automatically know where my opponent...

This is why FPS games should have handicaps, like in golf.
disposablehero:
yeah, for weapon switching you should assign keys near your "wasd" setup that you aren't using. key things like the rocket launcher and the railgun. it takes a while to get used to but it helps out. good luck.

I'm insane. Certifiably. Lock me up.

I just got back from CES and watching some of the best gamers in the world put on a show. It's rekindled the PC spirit that's lain dormant since I move to console more than 2 years ago. I'm currently considering whether to commit to training professionally on Quake 4.

I will never win. It's too far into the...

Yes, people play WoW that much. Whether they survive or not is open to debate - what sort of time scales are we talking here?

having said all that, there are some amazing PC games out there. (Yes, crack is bad, but here, try some!)

Those pictures are beautiful! I miss epic mountains.

I finally got a Doenut tonight. Two, in fact. And Doug and Steve are currently romancing!

I started playing with the variants a bit. In this newest garden though, I only have two pink Kittyflosses and a blue Quackberry.

I love NZ...how did you like it?

I don't consider myself a hardcore Star Wars fan. I enjoyed the original 3, don't care so much for the newest 3, but Ewan McGregor is hot enough to watch them anyway. Mmm, Ewan McGregor.

Anyway, the Star Wars franchise generally takes itself pretty seriously so when there's a tool out there that lets you build your own Deathstar with things like Ferris Wheels and...

I want something. I can't have it yet. Actually, I could, but at the expense of some things that are very important to me (relationships and money, mostly). Since I recognize that I'm one of those people who enjoys potential nearly as much as reality, this seems dangerous. Patience, I worry, might lead in my case to eventual loss of interest in what it is...

I dig and despise delayed pleasure. Grrrrrrr. However, I've found when I don't see something coming, I enjoy it all the more for it. Good luck.
