Lab days aren't as good as field days, but today was pretty good. Overcast outside and the lab was empty. Made it through seven samples and all of them were clean. Rare.

The owl was outside through the window in the pine again. Sat there all day. I never see it cough up its little trophies, but they are under the tree fairly regularly. Little balls of fur and bones neatly packaged for someone's research project. I'm not sure anyone knows they are out there.

Here's a project that is brought to you by the owl and delivered up pre-cleaned and packaged. Don't even have to leave campus. I'll bet it would be easy to catch the owl and give it a radio tracker or even a gps device like they put on cars in case they are stolen. They must make them small enough to be carried by a bird this size.
