Yesterday the focus of the universe was the Casey Anthony case. I did not follow the story. I did not watch anything on TV about it. One reason is that the contemporary news coverage to any big investigation/trial is always full of shit. It is all just news organizations trying to sell news. They will do almost anything to do it and have shown time and time again that abusing peoples emotions and inventing whatever narrative they can to sell their stories is all that matters to them. It is not journalism. It is marketing to the lowest common denominator, which never fails. From what I understand of the trial evidence I can see how the verdict played out. I have seen a lot of bad bullshit cases and there was a lot of that going on here. Then again the vast majority of police and prosecutors I have ever seen have been pathetically incompetent. I have no sympathy for prosecutors or out judicial system as It is all a game. Prosecutors and police weave their absurd narratives to create whatever they think they can sell a jury regardless of the truth or facts. There is no nobility or journey to the truth. There is only gross, lazy negligence and malicious self service. Who cares if we have the truth as long as we have a conviction. As long as there is a conviction then the prosecutor looks good and the public outcries are sated. There is a place for emotions. However, emotions do not belong in 99% of anyone's life. They do not belong anywhere that anyone wants truth, logic, rationality, and reality. There is never any excuse for out of control emotions, choices made based upon emotions, or declaring the supremacy of ones emotions. One of the core things about this case, especially post verdict, was the coverage and stories about the extreme emotional responses people were having to the case. This was on 848 today: We have an attractive, middle-class, white family; an attractive young woman with salacious photographs so we can love to hate her, she continued. And a beautiful little girl. But you know, as sad as it is, a lot of beautiful little girls go missing and unspeakable things are done to them all the time but if theyre African American or Hispanic, nobody cares. An interview with Andrea Lyons who was involved with the defense team. She went on to discuss the trial and the behavior of people in relation to trials like this. That is one thing that always bothers me about people voicing their outrage that they feel is totally justified and even an excuse to act aggressively or violently towards certain people. Yet women and children routinely suffer similar things or worse in so many places around the world including the united states. However, people only seem to gather in grand moral outrage when one individual case the news media feeds them into a frenzy over it.
What is really more important, the truth or a conviction? No one ever really cares about the truth.

And all of this isn't even one millionth of what is out there. The reason our country was started was to avoid the cruel absurd abuses of power and injustice of the primary governments of the time. That is why we have a system of innocent until proven guilty. The idea was that it is better to let the guilty go free than to allow the innocent to rot in prison. If the founders saw our country now, they would be endlessly appalled by what they saw.
