on the first day of the year i had a limit experience: for the first time in my life i got so drunk that i puked (i have taken up the practice of drinking only recently in my life). here is a picture that tells the story (taken by my friend, with a cel phone camera, before the puking started):

one of my "resolutions" for the year is to have more limit experiences. i really just wish my life was more like a Henry Miller novel. unfortunately (despite the promising beginning of the year), it is feeling more like Dostoevsky. for the most part i have been lonely and wracked with anguish. i have been able to get a prodigious amount of reading done though, and i am whipping through books like there's no tomorrow. books seem a poor substitute for people though...
