Back in Nottingham for another year of the student life, or my version of it. It's been awesome so far, Punksoc (nottingham uni's very own punk society [oxymoronic perhaps?] of which i am the "vice-president") has kept me very much entertained, anxious and excited - firstly with our stall at the fresher's fayre (the gay, but best, spelling of that word, surely) at which we signed up somewhere in the area of 200 or so eager little punk-loving freshers! My throat was hoarse with answering the question "so what do you actually do?" by the end of those 3 days. We took them all out to our favourite nottingham "alternative" (another way overused piece of vocabulary during the fayre) night spots. Met lots of cool new folks who frankly loved me and my position of authority
which is always enjoyable, isn't it?
Then on Saturday it was my punksoc gig at Nottingham's Old Angel. I'd been having literally sleepless nights worrying about how badly this could have gone - nobody turning up etc, but in the end it went more splendiferously than anyone could have possibly anticipated - made our money back plus double again, and the crowd filled the place! The bands all seemed to have a good time too. Haha, it was like i had given birth or something, people kept coming up to me and going "I've never seen you looking so happy! you must be so proud...", as i'd just stand at the front bobbing around uncontrollably grinning like a maniac
(surely what all new mothers do?)
Here's some pics, firstly All Or Nothing:
The radical (in the sense of being totally rad), Black Tie Knife Fight. They're Ad's band, loved 'em.
The lovely Leftbehinds, Em's boyfriend George is their lead singer. Hadn't seen them play in a while, one of my favourite UK bands for sure:
And last but not least, local favourites, Four Dumb Kids put on good straight forward punk rock show:
Today i noticed they're selling litre bottles of san miguel at my local shop for 1.89. How good is that? Exactly. Gonna get some of that and go over to a mate's in half an hour after Ben Anderson's Holiday's in the Danger Zone on BBC 2, RIGHT NOW!
go go go go go....
