I've started keeping a serious journal for the first time since I was in Jr. High School. I used to be deathly afraid of anyone being able to read my inner thoughts/look at my sketches, etc. in large part due to my belongings being gathered up and taken to a shrink a couple of times while I was growing up. By the time high school rolled around and the threats to send me to counselors and shrinks by my teachers had become constant, I recorded almost nothing.

However, I've started to make a lot of changes over the past year or so and I think it's important for me to record my internal dialogues. I'm taking exercise and diet very seriously again after 7-8 years of not really caring, I'm edging towards a vegan diet, I'm engaging myself in topics I haven't looked at in years in spite of my love of them, like philosophy and politics, I'm seriously trying to learn new languages, and I'm exploring both Chaos magick and delving into Alchemy. I also think it's important that I start refining my ideas again - and putting them to paper is one way to do that.

I think that today I'm happier than I have been in years. I think I had allowed myself to slip too far into the recesses of my mind and forcing myself to engage with the world once again is making a great deal of difference in my mood.
