So, now that I am unemployed...from Circuit City...I can tell the story.
I was an Operations Manager and I had a baby; when I came back, someone else was doing my job...so I hung around for a few months as an extra manager, still salary, no bonus.
The end of March, Circuit City laid off 3400 hourly employees...firing some of their tenured associates for lower paid inexperienced ones. In actuality, these folks were making way more than the salary cap for their positions. Luckily I didn't have anyone to fire at my store.
We breathed a collected sigh and moved on...
Within a week or so, I was offered a full management position salary plus bonus in a store 40 minutes from home fighting rush hour traffic; it was a sales manager position, which I had never done..but oh well. I took the job and took the long ride, telling myself it was job security.
After a few weeks, it was clear that I was not going to get any new training for this position...but I had a supportive Store Manager.
Beginning of May, preparations began for a new (beta version) POS system...it was hell. One day later, supportive manager took a job with another company.
Later that week, my job search went up a notch.
Fast forward to last night...8pm meeting after working 8am-5pm...never went home, stayed til meeting time. At about 8:12pm, I was given my walking papers and severence package information.
I am very relieved...it's nice to be gone from the stress and uncertainty. I have three interviews coming up this week too!
Oh yeah! Cooper's crawling!
