well, i guess removing any type of abnormal growth is probably for the best, at least this thing is not painfull, contagious, or malignant - so all is good really - not many people can say they have had their tongue stitched back together before... 
I am going to be out of town this weekend and I am so sad that i have to miss the bike and get drunk fest...
