Some cats won't do #1 and #2 in the same box. Try getting a second box and see if kitty will pee in it. A rule of thumb a lot of vets recommend is having one more box than the number of cats you have. Hopefully, that is the problem. I'm not sure if spaying would fix it, although that's always a good thing to do.

You might join the kitty group, too. I've found too many self-righteous assholes, some with the title of suicidegirl, for my taste (never directed at me, however). So, be prepared for ridicule and beratement if they don't feel you are up to their standards. Maybe it's changed since I was in it a couple years ago.
