"I promise that one day everything will be better for you." --- I just finished watching Donnie Darko for the first time. I feel haunted and weighted. I haven't seen anything that powerful for a long time. And the song at the end...one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

Mad World ... sung by Gary Jules ... cover of a Tears for Fears song

All around me are familar faces
wornout places
wornout faces

Bright and early for the daily races
going nowhere
going nowhere

The tears are filling up their glasses
no expression
no expression

hide my head
I wanna drown my sorrow
no tommorrow
no tommorrow

and I find it kinda funny
i find it kinda sad
the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had
i find it hard to tell you
i find it hard to talk
when people run in circles
its a very very mad world

mad world

children waiting on the day they feel good
happy birthday
happy birthday

and i feel the way that every child should
sit and listen
sit and listen

went to school and i was very nervous
no one knew me
no one knew me

hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
look right through me
look right through me

and i find it kinda funny
i find it kinda sad
the dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had
i find it hard to tell you
i find it hard to talk
when people run in circles
its a very very mad world
mad world

mad world

I'm sad now.

It's a good sad though, right? I just watched that movie a month ago, it does hit pretty hard. Best film I've seen in the last few years. I don't really recall that song, but it is indeed a mad world. Absorbing something like that that really amplifies the madness & beauty can be kinda serious for a bit, especially if I'm already a little off balance about something. One of the best feelings in the world, although it's not "comfortable" like you'd think of a good feeling. It's a weird discomfort that I always welcome, but I couldn't really live a day to day life with it around. If it didn't pass I'd have to drop everything and just start walking or running or something. I always try to hang on to it for as long as I can. There's a couple books that usually have that effect on me, and certain music sometimes. Nothing I can really count on working the magic every time though. Cheers. smile

Have you seen Magnolia? I just watched it last night, pretty damn good also. Similar theme of timing/coincidence/divine intervention, etc... Long damn movie, I put it in at 9:00ish & it wasn't over until well after midnight, which makes waking up at 5 a pisser. Don't slack too much on getting that artwork up, I'm curious.
