Yay!
The other day, Kayliane called me around 5:30 and said she'd landed in Philly. She ended up taking a cab to the place she was staying at, called The Gables. I took a cab to her temporary residence and she showed me around a little...it was really neat, it's like this giant old Victorian house and it had a lot of trinkets and things in the rooms. Very old fashioned and very homeyish, when I walked through the front door it smelled like a craft store, you know, that cinnamony, woody smell...
We walked to an Indian restaurant and I experienced Indian food for the first time. I felt dumb because I had no idea what anything was, and also didn't know that chicken curry is added to rice and isn't a meal in itself. Oops. Luckily KayLiane has had Indian food before and helped me out a little, even sharing some of her bread with me. She's such a sweetie.
After dinner, we went to the Marathon Grill for dessert...we both ordered their apple crumb pie, which was excellent. By the time that was finished I felt like I was going to explode. I walked her back to The Gables and we parted ways (so sad!),.
It was a brief meeting but even in that short amount of time I had a lot of fun and was reminded of how much I miss female companionship. I haven't had a close female friend in like...3 years. I wish she could have stayed in Philly longer so we could have done more than just met for dinner but I appreciate that I was able to see her at all.
I'm reallly out of it and my description of this experience isn't very compelling, but I swear it was awesome. I need tea and Ramen.
