2nd how do you figure that you are addicted? Cause I'm on the internet a lot (since 1995!!!) and it's a port of my life. I'm still social and meet with a lot of people and stuff. It just extends my socialness to a virtual world that's a part of the real world after all... (I've met people from the net later of course)

A lot of other people take timeouts. Like a few weeks no sg/myspace... so they usually get the addiction under control that way.
But if you miss the real world - a timeout at least is necessary too. Like every time you feel that way.
I guess you should rather learn to live with all that than backing away, but I maybe say that cause I'll miss you!!!
