I am sat in a boiling hot outdoor bar/cafe/internet place in the French Caribbean with only 2 weeks and 6 days until I go home! I have survived disgusting sweaty heat, drug dealers harassing me every day, being held at gun point and beaten up for being white, teaching horrible teenagers, crazy housemates and their even crazier underage boyfriends, bitchy nosy old religious neighbours calling me a prostitute every time I walk up my steps, 5 weeks of striking and rioting, and of course sharks! (there are none here but I feel that I survived them anyway!)
There have been some cool things here of course...ummm...I have a wicked tan now...my French is a bit better...met a few nice people who I hope I will stay in contact with and now I can say that I have worked in the Caribbean.
Sorry should explain what I am actually doing in this hell hole- I study French at university and had the option of going to Quebec (too cold), France (already lived there), or any of the three islands in the Caribbean (Guadeloupe, Martinique or French Guyana), there was also Reunion but I forgot about that island when I was applying. I chose Martinique because I had done a module about the history of this island and it really interested me. ERROR! it is the shittiest, most boring and racist place I have ever been to!
Anyway, I am leaving very soon, then I can see my friends and then my family, then get sick of my family and probably regret coming back early.
When I get back I have so much shit to get on with, for example...a hair cut! haven't had it done for like 7 months now and I look terrifying! I am starting to look a lot like many of the pirates who walk around the marina next to my house
But a few weeks later, I am off to Germany with my lovely big breasted friend Sarah and then only god knows where else we will go, planning on bumming around Europe until uni starts again, not sure if this will be possible on the little money that we have but whatever, who cares?!
Other than that...I had a wicked week in Dominica with my good friend Sally-Jo. Did every waterfall possible there I think, felt nice frolicking in hot sulphur springs and chilling out with our friends in the hills
Had a marriage proposal which always makes my week...
