I have returned alive from Poughkeepsie. It was a struggle. The trip sucked in many ways, and as I have done nothing else, I will tell you all about it.

Issue #1: I spent WAY too much time with my boss. He's a nice guy and all, but working together for 12 hours a day and then going out for dinner and drinks together is just too much. Especially since he's a bit odd. Not that I'm not, but I tend to be rather socially reserved. When a bartender or other member of the service industry askes me how i'm doing, I respond with the standard "fine, and you?" I do not, under any circumstances, start to actually tell them how sore I am from working in an attic all day or how I'm hot because it's 95 fucking degrees outside. They don't care, and I don't want to rehash it. I just want to get loaded and try to distract myself for a while, which is hard when you're with your boss and the only thing there is to talk about is work.

Issue #2: The joint was dead. I was working at Vassar and staying .82 miles from the campus in the Arlington district and there was noone around. Shit was dead. It sucked.

Issue #3: It was hot as hell. I'm a fall kinda guy. I hate hot weather because I like to hide in big sweaters. I was in an attic where it must have been well over 100 for days. I was sweating nonstop. That I've drank 8 liters of water and haven't pissed in 8 hours kind of sweating. Horrid.

Funny story of the trip: This is even funnier if you know me and how insecure and unattractive I feel. The first night we were there we went to the local pool hall. I was standing outside having a smoke when these 3 girls walked by and asked for cigarettes. I gave them to them and then the drunk one started going on and on about how hot I was and how she wanted some, etc. while the other two looked a bit embarrased. It was an odd grouping- the loud drunk girl, the quiet hippie, and the not as quiet as the hippie but quiet goth. I asked them what there was to do in hopes that they would turn me on to the dive-ass punk bar with $1 schaffer drafts and a killer jukebox, but they said there was nothing and then I got yelled at for being a CT driver. After telling the loud one that it was her problem that she couldn't keep up with skilled pro's like us, the goth girl gave me a little smile and asked me if I wanted to come walk around the campus aimlessly in the middle of the night with them. I declined saying I had a game going.

The whole thing made me feel a bit odd in that they looked young, but I think I'm getting old. 21 year olds are 5 years younger than me. Of course they look a bit young. So they may have been legal (for drinking, thata's my minimum) and I may have forfited some wild crazy night because I was playing pool with my boss. I suck.

Where's my sense of adventure?
