Just finished a great book, "The Long Walk" by Slavomir Rawicz, a true story of a trek to freedom, from a 1940's Siberian prison camp all the way through Mongolia and the Gobi desert, through Tibet, across the Himalaya's and finally into India. A book that is hard to put down... a great read.
And last night, I sat down and read "The Motorcycle Diaries"...

My second MC ever, a '72 Honda 350 CB twin, slightly modified. Sometimes I didn't know what I wanted to drive, the 240Z or the Honda, so I took them both. This pic was when I visited friends in Rapid City, South Dakota, way back when.
This morning, had coffee with a friend who is a graduate student at Portland State University. So she loads...

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a camera!!!
This was actually my third motorcycle ever owned. Bought it used. Some people classified it as a cafe racer but I turned it into more of a touring bike, a 1974 Honda Sport, (4 cylinder), chain drive. It was preceeded by the Honda 350 four that is now somewhat of a collectors item, (which sadly means they probably don't get to go out and run...

My '69
Had a busy Saturday helping the neighbor set up at a local swap meet for car racing equipment in Portland. Was not as good as the big swap meet they have here about the first weekend in April. Instead of 30,000 square feet this last Saturday, it will be 10 times that plus the entire parking lot and it will be 3 days...

is your '69 honda what some would call a cafe bike?
i was hunting around for one of those back when i lived in sf and was dating a guy that was very good at restoring cars and bikes. i enrolled in a class at the community college on how to repair motorcycles, just to get ready for owning a bike, and then had to drop out because it was too much work. some day i shall return to that class, with a nice little old bike in tow and work on it to my heart's content.
mmm. i knit. i knit like a maniac! mostly just scarves though. so your wive weaves yarn? does she sell any of it? if so, where might i pick some up?

Just finished attending a nine hour long class in how to create and display Phantograms using a digital camera, a table top subject and Photoshop. It was great and the 8 of us all took home an actual print that we created ourselves. It involved creating a red/blue 3D anaglyph that appears to pop up above the table.

So what special interests do you have that makes you get through life in a reasonably sane manner?
Well I have Devin and he's pretty special...and my ferrets keep me fairly same unless they're getting into stuff they shouldn't...and I love photography but right now I only have one crappy camera and no lab to develop my own stuff.....and I'm going to be getting a good digital one soon, but I have to save up for 3 months and it's driving me crazy...and I could get one now but then I'll just complain that I want a better one with goooood quality and then..... i just go more crazy...so right now I'm mostly crazy and nothing is really keepin me same....except french fries.... i stay pretty sane while enjoying their company, ha.
Do you stare are your instruments and wish you knew how to make them happy again?

See true stereoscopic 3D at the 3D Center of Art and Photography, 1928 NW Lovejoy, just off NW 19th street on Lovejoy in Portland, Oregon. Currently featured in the gallery section are black and white photos of stereoscopic nudes by a local amatuer photographer.
The stereoscopic slide show on Ellis Island runs until Feb 13th and recaptures old photos from antique stereo cards that were...

Portlanders should stop by the 3D Center of Art and Photography, 1928 NW Lovejoy, just off NW 19th street on Lovejoy a few steps up from the corner, and not far from Slabtown, by the way.
This month, our art gallery features a local photographer showing stereoscopic nudes and his book is on sale at the Center.
