*edited to add that there are some complications.. The putty covering my gum graft has decided to shift, and it's supposed to not move for 2 weeks. Pain pain. The roof of my mouth is still bleeding a tad. Wtf?
Why am I awake now? Oh yeah, I can't sleep right now for the pain. I am also still bleeding a bit.
I've got titanium foil, silk sutures (yeah, like silk from silkworms), and weird putty in my mouth. The pain on the roof of my mouth isn't quite like the "severe pizza burn" that was to be expected. Worse, maybe. It's the kind of pain that you get when you are absentmindedly chewing a pen cap and then slip and poke the hell out of yourself. Imagine this as a constant pain.
Not that I know how that feels or anything.
As for the graft itself, they cut between my lip and my teeth in 5 places, and the graft is strategically attached with much of what I described above, except that these sutures are dissolvable.
I think I am STILL feeling the anesthetic from this afternoon, as I've a superhuman tolerance and they had to keep shooting me up.
That's hopefully the last time that I will have to sit for 3 and a half hours in a chair.
My periodontist took some rad photos that he is going to burn on disc for me when I come in to remove the sutures.
Here's the kicker, though. I only received a prescription for 800 mg. pills of fucking MOTRIN to be taken 3 times per day. Nothing else.
