I don't know if I have all of my "gift shopping" done. There are a couple of gifts I am semi-clueless about.

It's hard to give things to people that a) have everything they need, b) get everything that they want (within rational bounds), and c) have varying interests, hobbies, etc.

The gift certificate route is always a safe way to go, and I don't think it's tacky or impersonal. To me, it's more tacky and impersonal to get someone something that they will not like. I'd be sad if a good friend who knows me well got me something that was so *not* me (unless a gag gift).

But who am I nowadays? Stay tuned.....
