Time is running out. It's only four short days until the end of my two weeks of freedom and the start of what will no doubt eventually becoming the latest soul destroying device in my life - a new job.

While I hold out some hope that it won't be like others previous - they all end up the same in the end. Don't they? The first week - everything is new and confusing. I'm sure that I'll never get the hang of things to the point where I'll be able to do my job competantly (or even remember anyone's name). I fight the urge to call my last job (after all, it wasn't THAT bad, was it??) - asking if they will take me back. After a week or so that subsides (the job isn't so hard, afterall - and YES the last job WAS that bad).

Everything runs smoothly for a while - sometimes a long while - and then restlessness sets in - and there is no where I would rather be less. Each day is more crushing than the last -and finally I'm calling in sick to attend interviews for other jobs - and so the cycle begins - again.

Perhaps I'm being overly cynical - and ignoring the fact that my employment stints are on a whole rather lengthy. At least this time I am being fairly compensated and won't be constantly stressing out about money. Some sense of financial security will definately be a first for me.

If you haven't already, get yourself along to see Coffee and Cigarettes as soon as humanly possible, ok?

PART DEUCE
I just walked in the door from Sonic Youth's show at the Enmore Theatre - and I felt compelled to write somewhere... anywhere... everywhere!! I thought a second entry on the same day might be over-doing it, so instead decided to add to the existing one. The show was great (bar some guitar problems that plagued Thurston for close to 20 minutes).

The atmosphere was so interesting. Due mainly to the fact that they haven't toured since 1997 (i got a big laugh out of TM's mention of the Menstruation Sisters tonight- who supported them on the last visit and whose bizzarre set had everyone in the entire venue thinking 'what the fuck??'). Being that a good portion of the crowd where in their early 20', it would be the first time a lot of them had seen Sonic Youth play - and I think a sizeable portion were hoping to see a "greatest hits" show - which this was not. From Sonic Youth's perspective, it would be incredibly boring to play the same songs over and over again.

As for Kim Gordon, I am amazed who stunning she still looks. Absolutely gorgeous!! I remember thinking when I saw them play in 1995 that she looked really good for her age. Nine years later, she didn't look a day older (ok, maybe a day - but no more).

J Mascis (sp?) and Cassette both did great support sets. Speaking of age - I was shocked to see how J had aged - though, it was about 1995 when I last saw him too.

Album of the Day: Grandaddy - Under the Western Freeway

Quote of the Day: "Who here likes The Stooges? (thunderous applause). Me too. Which one is your favourate? Curly, Larry or Moe?" (Thurston Moore to a sold out crowd in Sydney)
