Well, the DNC convention is over, the candidates have just left. It was bizarre. The streets were basically empty all week, and all the activities were behind closed doors and razor wire. Not so fun. Cops every-f'in where. I walked from Gov't Center to Science Park and saw @ least 300 cops, Secret Service and MPs. There were a couple of occasions when I wasn't sure if I was wandering into the wrong "section" and have a dozen weapons shoved in my face... It was.. Exciting? AND a few of my friends were in town, and didn't even say "hi"..! Damn them! hehehe... I was hopin' for a little delegate/reporter/starlet action, having no idea everything was gonna be locked down so tight, and well, never mind. I won't brag... Oh well. I worked my butt off and got paid shit. This was supposed to be a "everybody will make alot of $$$$", kinda thing, and as usual, it was service work. Why can't those numbskulls get it through their heads... You can promise & promise jobs, but 10,000,000 jobs working @ Mickey D's or a fluffy equivalent is not really that big a help. The numbers are...a bit deceiving? I dunno what's worse. Walmart buying out and crushing every business like the Borg, then hiring the people they ruined @ $8.00/hr., Enron ripping everyone off for their pension, or Nike saying "Those 14 year old Indonesians are lucky to have $2.00/day jobs..." . I would strongly suggest that if you can avoid NYC next month, you probably ought to. There are lots of people who really don't like some of the folk who are gonna be visiting there, who are misguided and frustrated enough to express it violently. Extremely violently. At least the convention was effective @ disempowering the Satanic Cult that has been subliminally taking over Davis Square over the last several years. It's good when people don't subconciously believe they aren't doomed to Eternal Hell for a sin or two. They tend to be a bit more considerate. Not that that scares me, there's lots of building materials down there, but some people aren't entirely over certain cultural moraes. The Satan Worshippers will most definitely be descending upon NY next month w/ their leathery wings, but fortunately, NYers being NYers are going to be less susceptible to such things, unlike the largely Catholic Boston. I love Boston, but loving something, someone or someplace always has to include accepting the little foibles. I wish my room-mates would quit trashing my apartment. It's filth, I tell you, filth! (I don't have time to play House Mommy and tell them to wipe their own ass).... Kitty's getting humongous. It's like having a pet bobcat. At least he has an excuse for trashing the place. He doesn't know any better.
Peace & all that good stuff...........
