Okay, I am so not a sports fan. Not at all.
However: This was a great weekend for what little interest I do have in sports.
Both my parents are from Michican, so I grew up watching University of Michican football and basketball, and the Detroit Tigers. I gew up rooting for the Wolverines and the Tigers.
Now, my girlfriend went to Penn State. So did her mom. So love for the Nittney Lions runs deep with her. Well, she managed to get tickets this weekend for the Penn State / UofM game this weekend, and we went down for it. Had a great time. And... my boys from Michican won! Go Blue!
Then, to make it even sweeter, I called my Dad (a UofM grad) from the game, and he told me that the Tigers are going to the world series! In 1984, my family still had a black and white TV. When the Tigers went to the playoffs, my dad said he would buy a color TV if they made it to the World Series. They did, and we got our first color TV. Those of you who follow baseball will remember that the Tigers won that year. Those of you who follow baseball will also remember that the Tigers have been absolutely worthless ever since. They have been the losingest team in baseball for 13 years. And they're going to the World Series!!! Now, if only I had a TV.
Guess I'm gonna be spending some time in bars. Let's hope the Cardinals win the National League, so I don't get my ass kicked by a bar full of Mets fans.
