My grandmother played scratch-off every day from as far back as I can remember right up until she was hospitalized and passed away. She went to Atlantic City and Vegas as often as possible and apparently was worth an absurd amount when she passed which surprised me because she lived in a small ghetto apartment the entire time I was alive. Not to mention most narrative stories have a very basic identical dramatic structure (I think its called Freytag's pyramid: The exposition>Rising action>Climax>Falling action>Dnouement/catastrophe/Resolution) so its impossible to say that anything is really particularly original even in that very basic way of telling a story if its any kind of linear traditional story. Plus part of effectively communicating a story means creating empathy and connectivity by touching on culture and collective history, which means following cliche's and archetypes that people can grasp, which means being redundant and unoriginal.
