There is this customer that comes into my store about 1 or 2 times a week named Mark. Mark is in his 40's and he used to be an Art teacher at one of the colleges. Unfortunately his mind turned on him and through depression and paranoia, Mark went crazy and digressed to the mentality of a child. There are elements to his personality that still remain adult-like and he still has clear memories of his past, but he seems like a little boy at times. It to me is truly amazing. I like talking with him about music and art and these are times that his adulthood come through. You can just feel how fragile this person is when you are talking with him.
I think about that alot, just the idea of how powerful our minds are. And how rarely we use this power to benefit ourselves. I am very guilty of this. I let my own fears and paranoia control me sometimes and it's a crime. I know the positive aspects are within reach and all I have to do is fine tune them. Accept them. Make the positive thoughts my beliefs rather than the unhappy ones. But it does take time. And time is all we have. So I guess I'm in luck.

Totally dude. Master your own psychology! I am a firm believer that you can tell yourself what to think and direct (but not necessarily control) your mind.

Yeah people are asking all the time of me "what is the worst part of your job" and I honestly have to say it's when you forget to turn the lights on in the back of the ambulance at 2 AM. (When the doors are open the light turns on automatically.) So when your partner shuts the door, suddenly it's just you and someone who's mind is fractured like glass all alone in the dark.

paramedic man, paramedic. "Ambulance drivers" (aka EMT's) are the people we boss around.
