I ordered my Canon Rebel XTi Friday and I get an email from the company this morning saying that I needed to call them and verify something so they could finish processing my order. Thinking I may have entered something in wrong I called the number they gave in the email, the line was busy. I called for about an hour and got nothing but a busy signal. I called the main number on the website and got a busy signal. Fuckers. They never did charge my card so I called my bank and reported my card number as stolen, pretty obvious that this is either a bogus website or the are the most incompetent fucks ever, so I just erred on the side of caution. So, no new camera, not yet anyway, I'll get it next month when I get my stimulus check.
In the meantime I have another use for that money. It turns out that a friend of mine from work has a few arcade games that he needs to get rid of. One of them is a Zaxxon mini cabinet and sounds like it's perfect for MAME conversion, especially since it doesn't work anymore. I'd never be able to bring myself to gut a perfectly working game. It's a smaller cabinet than a normal arcade game so there shouldn't be any problems with getting it through the doors of my place (they are pretty narrow, 29"). It does need some work; the cabinet bottom needs to be replaced and I need to check out the t-molding. I'm going over to his place Saturday to take a look measure it. If everything checks out I'll get it and the real fun begins. I'm going to take a week off next month to rebuild the cabinet and get as much done as possible. I need to get windows loaded on the MAME computer and all of the software I'll need.
I just realized something. Since I don't get my new card for about two weeks I can't order the buttons, joysticks, computer to arcade monitor interface, etc yet.
