are americans getting fatter?

i knew americans were getting fatter from demographics
as well as personal observation, but i got more
evidence of this today. i went to do some clothes
shopping for spring stuff. im way beyond overdue
for some new threads.

maybe it was the store i chose, im not sure exactly.

yup I think it's true. I've just been shopping for clothes on the weekend. It certainly varies brand to brand but I think this trend has been on the increase the last few years. For example Adidas garments in the UK are labeled one size smaller than they are here. Their extra large is our large etc.
I think it's a marketing ploy. I bought a pair of cords at American Eagle outfitters a couple of years ago, knowing I'm about a size 11 I bought a pair of size 7. I coulda walked out of there feeling like 'shopping at AEO makes me feel good about myself!" wink
legman:
sizes are COMPLETELY screwy nowdays.

I've got a fedora that looks just like that. I wear it in fall and winter and break out my panama in the spring.

I never really saw those commercials being about how "one is really hip and cool and the other is square and boring". More like two square and boring guys from two different generations.

Hmmm . . . I see the Geiger influence, except that you've got the advantage of being sane. Maybe some yoga would do him good, too.

Hey, was looking at your site.
I like your digital textures that look almost textile.
I am drawn to a lot of the same nature angles you are.
My favorite first time through photo was however 'Sunset Over Large Appliances'.
If only they could tell their stories. Huh?

Does the place you're volunteering take donation of old computers? We have a veritable graveyard of them in my house and you can't just leave a computer in the garbage.
electric:

do you ever experience emotions in a dreaming state
that we have no names for in waking life?

do some unnameable dreaming emotions sometimes carry over into
your waking life and shade how you relate to the world?

trocc:
interesting, i'll have to think about that.

i know that i always seem to have skills in my dreams that i don't have in real life - like playing the guitar or dunking the basketball... that's kind of depressing upon waking.
congueroseattle:
I have this one recurring dream where I am a kid riding on a carousel. The horses are all vivid colors. I am sure there is music, but I never remember it. I am both excited and trapped at the same time. I feel like it is some kind of a harbinger of change.

In other dreams, I will meet people that I have a deep connection with (even though in real life I have never met them.) Then at work or some other place I will meet people that remind me of the people in my dream. I suddenly feel the same connection that I felt in my dream.

One funny dream I had a number of years ago when I was a charismatic christian. I had been praying that Jesus would speak to me in a dream. I finally got the chance to meet Jesus in my dream. I leaned forward to hear his words that would change my life forever. What did he say? He yelled at me "Get up!!" (I was having trouble getting up on time.) Well, you can guess that I jumped out of bed and made it to work on time. I still giggle when I think of that dream! Ah, the mind works in mysterious ways! ;-)

Ditto that. I hope you feel more on the up and up pretty damn soon. Try to exercise if you can and take advantage of those endorphins.
