So, a lot of things happening around the ol' homestead these last two weeks.
First, I've officially upgraded from Amateur Photographer to Photography Enthusiast. I picked up a QSX 9502M Tri-Monopod from Sunpak. An absolutely awesome purchase, since it extends to over my head (I'm 6'8" remember) and remains sturdy and it also breaks down into a monopod. I got a great deal on a brand new Minolta RC1000L remote shutter release. Only paid $30 including shipping on what, from Sony, would cost $70 plus shipping. Not a bad price for 5 meters of freedom around the tripod. The Coup de Grace, though, is the lighting kit. I just picked up a pair of umbrella light stands with 85w CFL bulbs (350w equivalent).
Second, Sadistc and I are going to be shooting another set in the next week or so (when the shutter release gets here), so prepare for more of my wife! Though it probably won't show up in member review for another 3 months or so, what with the queue being so long. It's going to be a bit of a challenge for me, since I've never shot a set using back lighting, but I think it'll be a lot of fun and a heartfelt set from Sadistc's point of view. So, yeah, looking forward to that.
The BIG thing around here, though, is that at the end of February Sadistc and I are moving out of our little one bedroom apartment into a house. We'll have a roommate, which kinda sucks, but our rent will be the same as what we're paying now for this apartment and the roommate will be covering ALL utilities. So, our only bills will be rent, car insurance and cell phones. It will be so awesome to have that utility money back. It won't take me months on end to able to afford a 300 dollar luxury. I'm sort of a tard, though. Our roommate was gonna charge us $50 less than our current rent, but when he said that he'd be covering all the utilities, I told him I didn't feel right about that. He's a good friend of mine, so we agreed to the current cost and he'd pay the utilities. Should have kept my mouth shut. ^_^
