music... damn it. music. its makes my whole world complete. its so a part of me, i don't know how to explain it. but get a few beers in me and i'll always try.
i always talk to my musician friends about writing music, and making things happen with your band. its a magical, unexplainable thing. you bust your asses making it happen, and when new material comes out of it, its like a rebirth... or immaculate conception... or something. i dunno, i'm talking out my ass here.
its hard to explain. its like tears of joy. the fruits of your labor come around full circle and a wave of emotions hit you. pride, completion, satisfaction, full-on pure, raging aggression. today, we made scratch recordings of 3 songs for our new singer, just recorded well enough for him to hear where he needs to sing and whatnot. but... i've been listening to it non-stop this morning and an overwhelming sensation came over me and i was so happy... almost to the point of tears. the new songs are FEROCIOUS. this raw. primal energy you couldn't even plan if you want to. it just... happened.
goddamnit, it feels good, and i'm not fighting it. music is the food for my soul and my soul needs the lovin' and sweet, sweet lovin' it is. my bandmates make me proud to be a member of this band, and i make no bones about it. i love them to death. they are my brothers.
