What a week.
With a series of stressful, annoying, and sometimes downright painful Xmas gatherings during the past five years, most of my family decided to run off to parts unknown and actually enjoy the holidays. My oldest sister is going to Cuba, my Mom and Dad are off to Montreal, and I'm going to Mexico.
For some reason though, we all agreed to get together and have 'early xmas' at my younger sister's house. I guess the logic was that......... Well. There wasn't any logic. Anyway, the whole fandamnily converged on my sisters place and there was goose and venison, and all manner of meaty goodness. I was the only one who showed up with presents however. It's not that I'm organized, I just hate shopping with the holiday maddess coating everthing like an oil slick. Surprisingly, the whole affair went rather well.
I actually have some extra cash this year, so I started looking for either
a) a get rich quick scheme
b) a new HDTV
c) move to a nicer apartment
The real shock is that the TV makes the most sense. Rents in Vancouver are beyond insane, and I'm not so good with the indoor agriculture.
Blech.
Everyone at work has given up. Is it the same all over? Do people in offices just shut down for the last three weeks of December? I can't get straight answers out of anyone, so I just end up wandering around looking for something work related to occupy my time for an hour or so a day. I pity the retail slobs who are run off their feet.
Now the good part.
It all started when I went out with some friends. One brought along some nurses shew knew from work, a goup of Irish women who were visiting on exchange. I met this amazing woman who totally blew me away. We spent a fair bit of time together, and I discovered that she's utterly wonderful. When I dropped her off, we shared an electric kiss that started off tentative and ended firey with hammering hearts and heavy breathing. 'Course, that's as far as it went cause she had to catch her flight to Dublin the next day.
I'm not complaining, I got an Irish nurse fantasy to keep me warm at night
