Sometimes, life feels to be in auto pilot. Nothings wrong, things only feel not quite right. Regardless you cant seem to get to the controls. Youve become a passive observer in you own life for an indefinite amount of time, like having a cold, you know it will end, but how long will it take?
It reminds me of a recurring dream I have not...

It's called "determinism", my friend wink

You arent at the helm, yet you can still sit back and enjoy the ride.

That's the best dream with cybernetic instability as its content that I've ever heard of.

I never really regarded it as passive observerism though. Even if this "I" isn't "in control", you will still ending up doing things regardless of the ultimate locus of causation. Body, brain, mind acts and consciouness is the informant, often quite literally after the fact, in real time.

Algebra is driving me NUCKING FUTZ! I'm doing so well in every class I've taken. A 4.0 across the board for 3 semesters, and now that I've decide to go to grad school I have to learn calculus, but to do so I've got to relearn the basics. Now I'm reminded why I didn't take ANY math for my first degree.
It's hit a point...

You're right! They do look alike, my Nukie and your Amica. smile Mine is a husky/shepherd mix... and yours?

Thanks for the comment - and it's been my experience that algebra sucks for a lot of people, especially people who liked geometry (though, it sounds like you avoided that, too.) Wish I could help, but I've forgotten most of it, myself.

Im curious if any language is capable of capturing the subtle dynamic of human experience, to the effect of you and I being able to communicate more than on the surface. Even though we speak the same language, our images of the world are so different, often to the extent that we walk away from a conversation feeling that no understanding was achieved.
As Ive...

Its really amazing how much time can slip by when looking at so many beautiful women, and reading so many candid journals exposed to strangers. I do have things I should be doing with my time, but its easy to get lured in.and forget.
Just after Christmas I took off to visit friends and family. Really it was just a climbing trip to Arizona and...

Awww...EJ!!! I'm close by... I know I'm not much of an expert climber, but we should climb. Why? Because the rock says so. I hope you had a semi-decent holiday season, and don't let the lack of structure keep you down!
jessickah:
Yes darling, I am still rockin' the P~Town. You lead, right? And you don't mind someone who can only toprope? (Or boulder... I have a crash pad if you're interrested in some good old bouldering fun!!!) And if leading doth not apply, I can think of a few areas at the Mississippi Palisades State Park in NW Illinois that you can just hike up the bluffs to set up anchors and such. I agree. Once it gets warm, we should make plans to take a weekend, get some time on the rope and just BE... Sounds like we both could use that time. Hope you're doing well honey!

So, how does one collect and reignite internal fire when years have been spent on slowly burning out? For a few years I have been using all the energy I could muster and burnt myself out on every project I though needed help. As Im sure that some of you have done. Now after a year of rest, and a few half hearted attempts at...

Dr. Bob is ok. I can work with him. Some people can't pay attention, but I love the material enough to cover his shortcomings.

I'm not an econ major, though I'd like to minor in it. Biz major.

Some days just smack you in the face with humility. That said, life is good, it's just rough today.
Sometimes you realise your just not as good at things as you think you are. It just reminds me that focus and patience is needed for those things in which I care about.

I apologize. I suppose not having my face in the profile shot doesn't help either. How about this:
Hi, I'm the girl from your Arab-Islamic history class years ago. We used to sit in the stairwell of the UC and talk while eating yogurt and bananas. That was the semester I got a 1.0. Now I'm in a PhD program. Grades, shmades! Shmades.

For a few years I have been using all the energy I could muster and burnt myself out on every project I though needed help. As Im sure that some of you have done. Now after a year of rest, and a few half hearted attempts at re-ignition, Im trying to collect fuel so that when I can get a spark I can make it last.
Im not trying to fight burnout. Im already there. Im still in the ashes, but Im looking around; calmly wondering where to go from here. I refuse to give up.
Unfortunately, there are time sensitive issues in front of me, and sometimes the ashes call with their soft warmth to stay a while longer.

The icon is my banner of support for the censoring of some of the Suicide Girls sets due to the FBI. Here is the full story.

FBI's War on Porn comes to Suicide Girls

This is no joke...and we're waiting to hear if this just affects official content or what. In the meantime...kiss the constitution goodbye.

Read the links in the thread...even the FBI thinks this is bullshit.

Anyhow...fill me in on the going on's and what not. Amy and I are back in Michigan down near Empire...so we may be heading uyp to da UP here sometime.

Hope all is well and give my best to your mom and the EJ co-op crew.

tuesday morning, waiting for a study group to start.
I feel like if in disguise on campus. I look like a random hipiy kid living floating through school. But I'm 27, already have a degree, but can't teach without jumping through more hoops, everyone else seems so young.
besides that, I'm glad that it's september. it;s the best month of the year here in Marquette....

It's nice to leardthe theories that I've been trying to deconstruct for so long.

When you move into your house, you could always make a game out of it. As long as neither of you has any serious time constraints, you could just take your time and brush up against each other on purpose. Then after everything's all moved in and in order, you two can fuck like wild boars in your new bedroom! Good way to break your house in the first day you arrive, yes?

Good luck on (hopefully) becoming City Commissioner.

And thanks for the cute story about being in the West Side Story play. Singing Happy Birthday is probably what did it. Hahaha, awesome awesome awesome...maybe if I get nervous in Vegas, I'll start singing Happy Birthday, too. tongue
