Thanks to all who sent birthday tidings.
27 brings a lot of pressure. I have to become famous, OD and die this year. At least I'll be able to relax, then.
I get tattooed every year on my birthday. This year was a fucking nightmare. This guy works on me from time to time, and has done some Horta stencil work for me thatt I've been please with. He's not great, but I like the guy and want to support him. well, until Friday, I guess. He was trying to correct some style points in a piece that he botched in February. I've stopped bringing him new work because, as I've learned more about tattooing, it has become increasingly apparent that this guy is a bit of a flash hack. I think he's just burning out, and hs work is starting to reflect that. I wasn't even gonna have him correct this piece, but, inexplicably, I felt like I should give him the chance to stand behind his work (for which he was well compensated).
Bad move. Fortunately, I know people who will be able to remedy the situation.
My X works in the shop, and we are still close, so I'll keep seeing him. Somewhere down the line, he's gonna see that work has been done on what he's calling 'his piece (though, he's not Belgian, nor is he named Horta).' Thats gonna be a tough conversation, but fuck it. I have to live with it. He had his chance to make things right, and couldn't deliver.
Such is life.
It'll all be remedied in a few weeks.
Getting my frenum pierced tonight. Excited and nervous. My X is the only person I'd trust to do it, so I'm lucky that she has agreed.
