I know what unadulterated Good looks like.
So, I was driving to school after meeting my boss downtown for my internship, and I took Elgin. Right before I crossed 288, I was behind a couple cars at a stop light, and a little black kid in a collared navy shirt was walking by, apparently on her way home from school. I was absent-mindenly trying to determine if it was a boy or girl -- middle-school kids are ambiguous sometimes -- when she held her notebook up toward the line of cars and let it drop open so we could all see the first page hang down.
It said "I love you" in big letters with a picture underneath, and she just kept walking with the paper aimed at the cars.
Our eyes met, and we smiled.
Some people say God works in mysterious ways, and this must be an example.
I felt like I just got a hug from a huge invisible friend.
