california was a fucking blast. we spent a few days at mammoth, rode the biggest mountain i've ever set foot on in my life. i have some pictures of suicidegirls stickers on the peak, and on the rental car that we had.
snowboarding is completely different out there. it's a constant competition, people ragged others on their gear, on what tricks they were doing and all that shit. it was odd, they seemed to forget that the reason they started snowboarding was that it was fun. they mock people from LA, saying that they're snobby and all that, but turn around and do the same thing in their own sub-culture. the styles riders there rock are different from around here indeed. everyone has about 4 or 5 bandanas on their person( on their head, their arms, their legs), it's just odd.
-i rode with some of my favorite pros.
-mud-bogging in rental cars is fun.
-70 foot jumps are scary.
-danny kass is cool as shit.
-i met a chick, but my roommate screwed that up.
-airport security sucks
i got to have a neat little ordeal with the security at LAX. i was detained on account of my belt buckle, which reads: "grenade". so i nearly missed my flight, and no longer have a belt nor buckle. (good thing it was free)
i got to see my old friends, which was fun. but i also fell in love with june mountain. it's a lot like my home mountain, only bigger, and more fun. plus a lot of cool pros ride there, but it's still not too busy. not too many wanna-be rockstars. i think i'm going to move out there. the weather is awesome, and it'd be a change of pace. being a little country boy out in california would be a blast. my life might be headed somewhere new altogether soon...
