THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

I think I'm in between stages 2 and 3: I don't believe I am Santa Claus

You'll probably always have more ideas than finished works. That's a good thing, too. If you run out of ideas...write them all...what do you have left to do?? confused

I have lots of bits and pieces of stuff. I usually (*usually*) finish poems. But I have many unfinished stories lying around. Every once in a while I'll pick an old one up and write some more, then put it back down. Eventually, I figure I'll finish most of the bits and pieces.

Sure, of course I've thought of trying to do it more seriously. Being able to be a writer (a fiction writer, or a poet...) and make a living off it would be a dream come true for me. But until then, I'm an editor. So I'm at least working with words.

hee - funny! i guess i should be glad my hair doesn't look like santa. surreal smile

Oh how I love the holidays. It all started when I was little. It meant less time for school and more time for play! Some things never change, now it's simply an exchange of work for play.

I'm locked and loaded and ready for turkey day. I have a nice 24 pound turkey and more than everything else I could want. I really went a...

Time to be kids again!

What superpower would you like to have?

I'd want the power to time-travel. Past tense, I'd go to Woodstock, march with civil rights protesters in the 60's, see Prince and the Revolution in 1985, check out an old west saloon, go see the Berlin Wall come down, go see Greece 2500 years ago, view Star Wars in a theatre in...

Okay one more little piece of bitterness about Bush and I'll get back to other things soon.

I found this in cyberspace:

Dear President Bush,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law.
I have learned a great deal from you and try to share that knowledge
with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the
homosexual...

What is this, the fucking crusades? God is popping up everywhere lately, and it's being forced on us all. God had a large hand in our recent election, God is playing a big role in the bloodshed right now in the "holy land" that we have stuck our noses into. God truly is all around us.

God is invading our lives, it seems more than...

nice one!

i totally agree. im very afraid for your country and what that idiot is going to do in the next four years.
redfirefaery:
i agree that god, whatever you perceive him to be, should have nothing to do with politics, foreign policy, etc. god and an individual's perception of god should remain a personal issue, and not a public one. i'm not even going to start on the gay marriage issue. it is bad enough most states don't have domestic partner benefits, let alone gay marriage rights...

anyway, as far as god goes for me, my religious belief happen to be "non-mainstream" and, in large part, can be supported by science. every thing in the universe has its own unique energy.......

Hey, hope everyone is having a frightingly good Halloween. Any holiday involving candy is fine by me. I dressed up as a mormon. It's fun and easy to do. All you need is a short sleeve white button down shirt, black shoes, black slacks, a thin black tie, and the book of Mormon. It also helps if you have a few passages memorized, especially ones...

arachnequarius:
yes, i love halloween! but, honestly, i love it as much for the spiritual side as for the campier elements. in fact, as i child i eshewed trick or treating because i found it mercenary and vulgar (i was 7, had only been stateside for 2 halloweens, only out for one, and simply would not have it). however, i dressed and made some rituals. my approach to halloween is an un/holy union of catholicism, wicca, and sort of taoist sensibilities ~ at least the animism idea ~ with just a touch of yogic wisdom. anyway ... surreal

as for the music, ummmm, YES. when i moved to dc, i was deeply dissapointed to find the punk scene had utterly dissolved. then i considered that it was during the clinton administration, and things were good, so there was no strife for artists to react against. however, right now, i think musicians and other artists are reacting, but what we recieved is more mediated messages about them talking about their art rather than their art. however, i believe its out there somewhere.

bush must be stopped.

I give you a quote from someone I have been interested in lately, Ralph Waldo Emerson:

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesman and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do."

I'm going to make a more concerned effort to try new things each day, even if it's 1 new thing each day....

omg, office space. hilarious!! hope it wasn't too horrid.

as for excercise, each week i lift weights (split training) 3-4 days, at least 2 yoga classes, pilates videos (whole body and specific part), and several dance classes. i used to swim competitively as well, so when i have access to a pool, i do a few miles a week. and some of it is just natural luck. woo. biggrin

hey who are ya? you've never posted on my journal, but you are on my friends request list... what made you request?

Ah, my first cold of the season. Thankfully this appears to be a garden variety cold, and not something more significant like bronchitis, or flu. Been playing more sports lately and I am beginning to get restless. I want to be able to play more and more and more. My body is holding up pretty good too, as most of my summer jogging season was...

ugh - i think you gave it to me! i awoke kinda icky, but refuse to submit. what sports do you play?

and the abbreviated/extended week? hell yes. smile
edwin:
Hope you are feeling well.

I play basketball mostly. I have also played tennis, golf, baseball, bowling, volleyball, football, and hockey on occasion, although I don't really consider golf or bowling a sport. I also jog a bit and try to weight train every so often.

If your many legs are as strong as you say, there must be some method to get them that way. What do you do sporting or athletically?

A lot of people tell me that I am a good listener, or that I am easy to talk to. That may explain why I kinda have more women friends than male friends. I enjoy what I perceive to be the feelings of relief someone gets when they've opened up and let something out that they should not have retained in the first place. Men...
